The First Serve Core Program is a comprehensive program where children and their families commit to attend two weekly sessions for 34 weeks, beginning in September, continuing through the school year, then finishing with the Summer Tennis & Reading Program. All students are eligible to compete in the First Serve National Student Athlete Competition.

There are three components of the First Serve Core Program:
1) life skill activities firstservepic

2) tennis instruction

3) literacy

There is a competitive application and selection process in order to be involved in a First Serve Core Program. Children who are selected to become Core Program students have displayed good behavior and are motivated to excel academically, socially, and on the tennis court.  The selection process for the 2009-2010 First Serve After-School Program begins in August with recommendations from summer instructors.  Invitational letters are mailed and each potential applicant and their parents are interviewed to be educated on the commitment required.
