Life Skills
Life-skill activities come from the First Serve Life Skills Curriculum, which is the most comprehensive life-skills curriculum developed by any sport. The curriculum has three levels (Game, Set, and Match), each of which takes approximately one-half to one full school year to complete and addresses a different set of six life skills. Each set of six skills is taught and reinforced throughout six units. Students participate in a “challenge” at the end of the level to demonstrate what they have learned about the six focal life skills. Each level culminates with a graduation celebration where students move on to the ensuing level and share their experiences in First Serve with friends and family members.

Quote of the Day
“Every now and then, somewhere, some place, sometime, you are going to have to plant your feet, stand firm, and make a point about who you are and what you believe in. When it comes to that, you simply have to do it.”-Lee Riley

Charlee Goodman
8th Grade First Serve Participant

“Signing Charlee up for MTEF is one of the best things that has happened to her,” stated Charlee’s mom, Vanessa Goodman. “The First Serve program has improved Charlee’s self-esteem, confidence, and social skills, not to mention how much her tennis has improved.”
