FAQ

The Milwaukee Tennis & Education Foundation's Summer Tennis & Reading Program serves Milwaukee Residents between the ages of 9 and 18. We cannot make exceptions to the residency or age requirements.

QuickStart Tennis is offered to all children 5-8 years old. For specific QuickStart times, please contact the MTEF office at (414) 442-8195.

While it costs MTEF about well over $167 per child per week to run our summer program, the program cost a minimum of $20 per child per week (site may vary).

MTEF has three locations this summer - Rufus King, Merrill Park and Brown Deer HS.

Merrill Park is an all day session from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., while Brown Deer has a morning session 9 a.m. -  Noon and Rufus King has an afternoon session 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. All sessions are Monday through Friday (No activities  on July 4th).

MTEF does not provide any transportation, but many of our sites are accessible via public transportation. We do provide transportation to and from Jr. Team Tennis matches.

Children should wear sneakers and athletic clothing (shorts, t-shirt, etc.). Also, please ensure that your child has whatever sun protection he or she needs.

MTEF provides all tennis equipment and reading material, but children may bring their own racquets or books if they would like to. Make sure to clearly label any personal items you bring.

MTEF provides water at all sites, though children are welcome to bring their own water bottles. Participants are provided with a free lunch. Feel free to bring a snack if you think you will want one.

It depends on the day and the time. Each site has classroom and gym space that may be used to provide programming in the case of rain. Please ensure that your child has a way to get home or a place to go if a rain cancellation occurs. It is very important for you to be aware of weather conditions while your child is at tennis. Contact your child's site director with any questions regarding rain cancellations.

MTEF is not responsible for any lost or stolen items brought to the site during programming. It is strongly suggested not to have your child bring any electronic devices to the site and recommend to keep it secured at all times while at the site.

Because of the demand for this program, attendance is required for all confirmed sessions. If your child cannot attend a session he or she is registered for, please contact the MTEF office as soon as possible at (414) 442-8195 so that another child can be given the space.
