Who are the Academic Tutors?

The academic program is administered by MTEF's Education Director, Kathy Adelmeyer, who is responsible for developing the curriculum, training and managing the site tutors, and coordinating the academics with each participating youth-serving agency. Tutors are selected from local colleges and high schools, although Marquette's School of Education is a primary partner for academic tutors. Tutoring sessions are designed so students learn life skills as well as advancing their skills in math, reading and spelling.

All tutors must be interviewed and attend a mandatory workshop before being hired by MTEF.  This comprehensive workshop covers employment issues, job responsibilities, group teaching techniques, and interpersonal skills.  To view a copy of the MTEF Coaching and Staff Handbook click here.
