Jay Massart
Executive Director
Jay Massart is responsible for the day-to-day operations of MTEF.  Under Massart's leadership, MTEF has become a strong organization that impacts the tennis landscape in the Milwaukee area.

Winner of Wisconsin's prestigious Bill Letwin Award in 2001 and the USTA Eve Kraft Award in 2003, for contributions to the community and ongoing development of tennis, Massart began teaching the game he's played since childhood, in 1983.  He begins his 16 summer as the Director of Tennis at Milwaukee Country Club and has been a teaching pro at Mequon Elite for 12 years.

A member of the Midwest USPTA Hall of Fame, Massart is the current vice-chairman of the USTA NJTL National Committee and an at-large member of the WTA Management Committee.

     

Diana Miramontes
Office Manager/Ford Project Coordinator
Diana Miramontes studied computer technology at Mount Mary College and has worked as an administrative assistant for a number of companies and organizations, including Bell Ambulance, the Private Industry Council of Milwaukee County, and the Journey House Youth Center.  A Milwaukee native, Miramontes is fluent in both English and Spanish.

    
     

Natalie Harlan
Development Coordinator
Natalie joined MTEF in April, 2008.  Her responsibilities include assisting in all aspects of fundraising including special events, as well as individual, corporate, and foundation solicitation.  Prior to her employment at the Foundation, she  worked with several non profit organizations and committees including Co-Chair Project NIKKI Committee at Aurora Sinai Samaritan Hospital, Women's Fund Grant Advisory Board, and Chair of the Advancement Committee at Milwaukee Montessori School.  Natalie has a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Illinois-Chicago and will obtain a Masters in Human Resources and Labor Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in May, 2008.
  

     

Essie Herron
Metro Milwaukee League Coordinator
Essie is the co-founder of the Badger Tennis Club, an organization that has offered tennis instruction, leagues, tournaments and rallies to both youth and adults for the past thirty-three years.  She served as a Wisconsin Tennis Association (WTA) Board member for eight years and chaired the WTA Ranking Committee along with serving on the Multicultural Committee.  An avid player, Essie is the Local League Coordinator (LLC) for the newly formed Milwaukee Metro League, a citywide year-round league that utilizes school and park courts, bringing in over two hundred new USTA league players in 2007.

    
     

Wendy Orthober
Controller
Wendy Orthober graduated from Miami University (Oxford, OH) in 1989 with a degree in accounting.  She received her CPA in November of 1989.  Orthober worked for the accounting firm of Ernst & Young in the audit department in Chicago from 1989-1990.

After getting married, she moved back to Milwaukee and worked for Marshall & Ilsley Corporation in the Internal Audit Division from 1990-1992.  Orthober moved into M & I's Capital Markets Group in 1992 as their CFO.

In 2002, after her third child was born, Orthober "retired" from the CFO job and now works on a part time basis as the director of investor relations.

     

Johnson Banks
Sherman Park Activities Outreach Coordinator (AOC)
A community-based man with a passion for kids and their success.  Compassionate, down to earth, a great communicator and sincere, Johnson is very serious about the success of our youth and plans to be a positive presence in their lives in hopes of helping them strive to be the best that they can be.  Please take a moment to chat with Johnson and you will find him open, honest, and a little silly, but VERY serious when it comes to our community and your children and the successful relationship he hopes to strengthen between the two.

    
     

Coach Jones
Sherman Park Site Director
Joseph Jones is currently teaching in the Milwaukee Public Schools, where he has been teaching for 18 years. Joseph holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Rust College, MS. He is an S.I.A.C tennis champion from 1983-1987 (4 years).  Joseph is currently the assistant tennis coach at Rufus King. He started playing tennis at the young age of 15 in Natchez, Mississippi. Joseph has been coaching tennis for the past 20 years. While developing great players Mr. Jones continues to education students throughout the South and Midwest.

     

Joe Ewert
MTEF Lead Adult Instructor
Joe has worked with both the after school youth programs as well as the adult summer program since May 2007.  He comes from a family of tennis pros, which include his brother, sister and sister-in-law. Joe started playing tennis at the age of 12 and played varsity doubles all four years at Sheboygan North.  He earned his degree in 2005 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and then pursued a career in the tennis industry. Last summer Joe obtained his USPTR certification and he is currently a tennis pro at Mequon Elite.
