Dave Pelisek, MTEF President      

Dave Pelisek
President
Mr. Pelisek is a managing director with Robert W. Baird & Company and a partner with its private equity arm, Baird Capital Partners, where he focuses on acquisitions and late-stage growth investments in the business services sector. Pelisek has served as a director of 14 Baird Capital Partners' portfolio companies, including current directorships at Berbee Information Networks Corporation and Marshall Erdman & Associates, among others.

Pelisek received his BA (1981) and MBA (1984) in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He played collegiate tennis for UW for four years, twice earning All Big Ten Conference recognition, and served as captain his senior year.  Mr. Pelisek also served as the men's varsity tennis coach at UW in 1982.

Dave, his wife Mindy, and their three sons all enjoy tennis and reside in Mequon, Wisconsin.

     

Jay Massart
Executive Director 
Jay Massart is responsible for the day-to-day operations of MTEF.  Under Massart's leadership, MTEF has become a strong organization that impacts the tennis landscape in the Milwaukee area.

Winner of Wisconsin's prestigious Bill Letwin Award in 2001 for contribution to the community and ongoing development of tennis, Massart began teaching the game he's played since childhood, in 1983.  He graduated from the University of San Diego where he played Division I tennis for four years.

Massart is the current chairman of the USTA/Midwest Section Junior Recreational Committee and a committee member of the USTA NJTL National Committee.

Laurie Covert

Chair, Community

Tennis

Laurie Covert is a long-time volunteer of the United States Tennis Association. She served four years on the Executive Committee, two years on the Strategic Planning Committee, and is in her fourteenth year as a member of the Youth Competition & Training Committee.  She also is completing a second term on the USTA Nominating Committee. 

 

She recently completed a four-year term as president of the Midwest Youth Tennis & Education Foundation, which followed her two years as president of the five-state USTA/Midwest Section.  She was a member of their Executive Committee for fourteen years in various positions.

 

In Wisconsin, Laurie was president of the Wisconsin Tennis Association after serving on their board for many years.  She began her volunteer "career" as director of the Greater Milwaukee Women's and Mixed Doubles Tennis Leagues in the mid- 1980's. She's had one "real" tennis job: coach of the Whitefish Bay High school girls' junior varsity team when her family moved to that community. 

 

Laurie and husband Chris currently reside in Bayside.

 

     

Trevor A. D'Souza
Treasurer

Trevor D'Souza is a managing director with Mason Wells, the largest private equity firm in Wisconsin and one of the most respected in the Midwest, where he is responsible for co-managing the venture capital investment activities of the firm. 

Prior to joining Mason Wells, D'Souza was the CEO of a start-up company providing software products and services to the biomedical industry.  Prior to that, he was a program manager with Booz Allen & Hamilton Inc., an international management and technology consulting firm, leading a practice focusing on the supplier side of health care. 

In addition to being on the MTEF board, D'Souza is a member of the board of directors of the Wisconsin Technology Council and the Spirit of Milwaukee   

    
MTEF Treasurer, Herb Hentzen      

Herbert D. Hentzen Chairman,
TEAM
Herb Hentzen is the retired president of Hentzen Coatings, Inc., a manufacturer of industrial coatings.

He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, where he received a degree in chemical engineering. He played varsity tennis at UW for four years and was team captain for two.

Hentzen was tournament referee and director of operations for the National Clay Courts Championships from 1966-68 and was on the USTA Umpires Committee.
He has been active in and served as an officer and/or director of numerous business and community organizations.

     

Charles C. Mulcahy
Immediate Past President 
Charles C. Mulcahy is a senior advisor for McKinley Reserve, a private equity firm based in Wisconsin.  Prior to that, he was a senior partner with the law firm of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

While an elected member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors (1964-76), Mulcahy was instrumental in developing the formation of the Milwaukee County Regional Medical Center.  Shortly after voluntarily retiring from public office, he joined the Board of Trustees of the Medical College of Wisconsin.  He currently serves on the board of the MCW Research Foundation, where he chairs the Strategic Planning Committee. 

    
     

Mark Garsombke 

Secretary 

Mark Garsombke is an attorney with the Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C., where he is a member of the firm's Corporate Transactions & Business Law, Information Technology, and HIPAA practice groups. Mark serves as corporate counsel to a variety of Fortune 500 and technology-based companies, health care providers, and other for-profit and non-profit organizations. Prior to joining the firm, Mark was in-house counsel at Strong Financial Corporation. Mark is a graduate of Regent University School of Law and the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, and is active in the Milwaukee-Area community.

      

Mark, his wife Chris, and their six children reside in Menomonee Falls.
