Michael D. Levy, Sr.
Tennis Director

Michael (Mike) Levy Sr. has spent more than 35 years working in the private sector for several different companies. Most recently he was a design engineer for one the largest international power-solution companies in the Midwest. During this time, he took the opportunity to volunteer on local community outreach initiatives provided by his employers, such as Junior Achievement of Wisconsin and YMCA Milwaukee Black Achievers. Mike also is an eight year veteran of the United States Coast Guard.

Mike has been part of growing tennis in the Milwaukee area for more than 40 years. After completing his United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) teaching certification in 1993, he began coaching at Milwaukee’s Rufus King High School and later at Shorewood High School. As a high school coach, he averaged two to three individual and/or doubles competitors in the Wisconsin State tournament annually. In 2005, members of his teams won both the Boys and Girls Individual State crowns. During that same period, he launched the Milwaukee Tennis Club, which pointed urban adults toward USTA summer league play. Ultimately, the club had five teams competing across southeastern Wisconsin.

Mike and his wife of 10 years, Julie, have made Mount Pleasant/Racine their home. During their years in this community, Mike co-founded the Racine Community Tennis Association (RCTA). The RCTA is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization that has offered 10 & Under Tennis to a very diverse community of young people. RCTA is a National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) chapter that operates after-school programs in Mt. Pleasant/Racine area schools.

Mike brings with him not only a strong skill set in organizational leadership, but also a passion for tennis and youth. He is looking forward to building on MTEF’s already strong foundation to further help our current and future participants.
