Hi everyone! My name is Kenneth Sykes. I will be working for the Milwaukee Tennis & Education Foundation as the programming coordinator.  One of my responsibilities will be to assist your child and family during the 2009-2010 year, motivating and guiding them to academic and tennis success!

I join MTEF as a Public Ally, a program that gives young adults a chance to take a year out of their young life to give back to the community, develop as leaders, and ultimately, make a difference in the Milwaukee Community.

I was born and raised in the central city of Milwaukee, and although growing up in a rough neighborhood, I stayed very active in the Pieper Boys & Girls Club and playing sports. I played basketball on the high school level, earned a scholarship to the University of Whitewater where I sustained a serious knee injury and had to give up the game. Many coaches and mentors influenced me as I learned to play as a team member and to follow through on life goals.

But, the guidance and mentoring I received from the Boys & Girls Club helped me develop to the young man I am today! Dedication, hard work, and teamwork are just some of the values that were taught to me that I will use as tools to help your children not only on the tennis court, but in school as well!

I look forward to a year that is going to be filled with tons of fun. So look out for good games and great grades!

Quote of the Day

“I know I could never forgive myself if I elected to live without humane purpose, without trying to help the poor and unfortunate, without recognizing that perhaps the purest joy in life comes from helping others.”
